This is the first Mercedes we have seen here in Ecuador. I think these cars are really cool, and they remind me of my uncle. He has a car just like this one. When I showed him the picture he said, and I quote him, “Hey that car is just like mine!” His sister came home from the hospital in that Mercedes. It is over thirty years old now. It`s still shiny and beautiful (my uncle takes very good care of it).

I like this picture because of the car itself, but also because of what’s in the background. If you look closely, you will see that there are street vendors selling candy and potato chips. One lady is selling lottery tickets. There are also a couple business men in the background.

I took this picture from the window of Gelateria-Pizzeria-La-Formance pizza shop. As we ate our pizza, we saw this car and thought it was so cool and we just had to take a picture.

    Hi Drew;
    Yes that certainly is a cool car,I remember seeing youir uncles and thought5 that it would be nice to hsve one. I am not able to drive yet as I dad an artificial Knee put in on Dec 14th so I am now a part bionic man ( million Dollar more like 99 cent one)

  3. Uncle Matt says:

    Hi Drew,
    Very cool car! It has a few refinements that mine lacks, including euro bumpers and headlights. It has likely benefitted from years of salt free roads in Ecuador as well and doesnt likely have a rust problem like mine does! Cant wait to come down there and visit you all! As soon as Abi is a little older.
    Much love, Matt

    This reminds me of the shared taxis I used when I lived in Beirut many years ago…all of them seemed to be well used Mercedes. The name for one of these was “ser-VEEs” – you could catch one from the center of Beirut to virtually anyplace in Beirut or several cities in Syria. I never saw one with such a cool paint job as yours, though! 8-)

    I meant “virtually anyplace in Lebanon.”

    Hello Drew,
    In Quito you see quite a few older Mercedes cars in good condition. They are classic cars and keep their value for a long time. Maybe some day you´ll get one?

    Keep posting!
